Situating Physical Computing in Secondary CS Education

by Przybylla, Mareen
Abstract:
Physical Computing is the design and creation of interactive objects, which are programmed tangible media that integrate sensors and actuators. It uses methods and ideas, for example, of embedded systems, cyber physical systems and IoT devices. In Physical Computing, learners dive into the role of inventors and learn in creative and constructionist settings. The work described here aims at examining what opportunities are offered by Physical Computing and how these can be used most effectively in computer science education at secondary school level.
